Just like any industry, you need some basic qualifications to show that you actually know what you are doing, and entitle you to secure your first position onboard a yacht.

Below you will find a list of all the basic courses that will help you land your first job: 

​

• Basic STCW courses ( Mandatory) - Safety and Survival Courses 

• Seafarers Medical and/or ENG1 Medical ( Mandatory)

• Seamans Discharge Book ( Mandatory)

• Valid Passport ( Mandatory)

• Basic Security Awareness 

• Powerboat Level 2 (PB2) - Basic boat handling skills

• Deckhand course - seamanship, rope work, safety procedures, and general maintenance

• Steward/ess course - housekeeping, laundry, food and beverage service, and guest care

• Personal Watercraft course (PWC)-  Operation of jetskis and similar craft 

• Watersports Instructor - Equipment use, safety management, and instruction skills

• AEC1 - An introductory engineering course that provides basic knowledge of marine engines, systems, and maintenance
